In January I decided to fast from meat and diary for 21 days. I did this fast for health reasons as well as spiritual reasons. I fast often, but it’s usually just for a few days. I wanted to see the benefits of fasting for an extended time. I lost 10 pounds during that time and so far I’ve been able to maintain what I’ve lost . Here is what worked for me.
Disclaimer: I’m not an expert this is what I do and it works for me.

No Meat & Diary
I cut out meat and diary completely for 21 days. This was my biggest challenge. I don’t do much diary, but I love cheese and French vanilla creamer. I started using diary free creamer instead of my normal creamer. My favorite is “Silk Sweet and Creamer almond creamer”. I also cut out cheese completely. Instead of meat I ate more healthy carbs like sweet potatoes and lots of beans. I also try to include lots of veggies with every meal. My favorite meal is a vegan chili recipe I found on Pinterest Here. Giving up meat and diary was the most difficult, but I feel the most beneficial.

Workout/ Staying Active
I workout at least 3-4 days a week. My workout routine consists of cardio and weights most of the days. If I can’t get to the gym I will find a home workout on YouTube or take a 30 minute walk with my son. The goal is to stay active everyday. Ladies don’t be afraid of weights, they burn more calories then cardio.

I’ve been able to maintain my weight for the last couple months by continuing most of these steps. I have started back eating meat mostly on the weekends. I’ve also had some diary when I eat sweets lol. My advice is don’t restrict yourself and make smarter decisions. Quick fixes will not last. It’s a journey.
I hope this helps you guys. Let me know if you have any questions.
Until Next Time…
