While we’re talking about BUYING BLACK! I started wearing a full face of makeup about 5 years ago, that’s when I realized how hard it was for deeper skin tones to find the perfect match. I discovered Mented Cosmetics a couple years ago and was so excited that two black women created some products for black women. I was gifted some products from the brand and wanted to share with you guys an honest review.
My first impression of these products was how great the packaging was. I love the matte black boxes that each product is packaged in. I think it’s a perfect match with the white and tan front. I really do enjoy great packaging.
High Brow Precision Pencil – I am in the color brow down, that is a deep brown. Like most brow pencils, one side has a brow brush and the other side is the pencil. I love the fact that this pencil is dark enough for my brows but not black. This brow pencil is perfect for that natural brow look.
Peach for the Stars Blush– This blush is a must have for my melanin sisters. I know a lot of women are scared of blush, but this blush offers just enough pigment for women of color. You can also use it as a highlighter, because of the very settle shimmer. I love this blush it’s great for summer.
Dope Taupe Matte Lipstick – As women of color we can never find the perfect nude. Well ladies Mented has created the perfect nude lipsticks and liquid lipsticks for women of color. Dope Taupe is the perfect nude and I don’t have to wear a liner with it, this shade is enough alone. It also doesn’t dry out your lips like other matte lipsticks, this lipstick is so moisturizing. Mauve Over lipgloss – You can never go wrong with lipgloss in the summer. When I don’t want to wear my Dope Taupe Matte lipstick alone I will just pair this right on top. It’s very pigmented as well, so you don’t need much.
I can honestly say I am so happy I was able to test out these products. The quality is amazing. Definitely check out Mented Cosmetics products if you are looking for some affordable makeup. They’re also a black own brand you guys.
